Pomegranates in Shuk Machaneh Yehuda

  • While walking through the open air market (shuk in Hebrew) in Machane Yehuda, Jerusalem, I came across this festively adorned table display of pomegranates, with a juicy perfect one sliced open.  The pomegranate was neatly spliced into 6, which resembled a six pointed star of David.  This mouth watering photograph would look perfect in a kitchen.  Pomegranates are said to have 613 seeds, which we eat on Rosh Hashanah, and remind us of the 613 commandments.
